Geocaching

GPSGeocaching is a fun treasure hunting game for GPS users. The basic idea is that there are “caches” placed all over the globe just waiting on you to find them. The GPS coordinates to find the caches are given and all you have to do is go find them, simple enough uh, yeah right. The problem is that GPS only gets you in the general area the rest is up to you. Some times there may be a reward stashed with the cache, but the rule is if you get something leave something. The one common thing found in all stashes is a log book for you to sign so the cache owner knows you were there.

Most games are played on a board or on the computer this game is played on your feet out in the world, what a great concept. With today’s Techno revolution this game gets the whole family out of the house, off the couch, and moving around (Great Exercise). There is also a challenging twist to this game, sometimes one must solve a puzzle or riddle to find the cache, exercise and brain teasing. Well this game is really easy to play, all you need is a GPS device and an account on http://www.geocaching.com/.

After you have got the hang of finding caches perhaps you might try your luck at maintaining your on cache. Geocaching has all the information you need to set up your own cache and how to mange it, just remember to get it public and get permission. Well I just wanted to share this game with everybody and hope you have as much fun as I am playing this game.

I will soon be adding some of my favorite finds and most memorable moments geocahcing.
