Time Travel?

Most serious conversations of time travel usually lead to some type of discussion involving quantum physics, laws of relativity, or string theories. These complex mathematical theories will most likely scare away all but the hardcore mathematicians and time travel enthusiast. I however enjoy joining these conversations. I have to admit I don’t really stand a chance arguing physics or laws of relativity with anyone, but I can still hold my own in this conversation. You may be asking yourself, how is that? Well what if I told you that with simple algebra you too can stump even the best minds.

First I have to give you some simple given facts so you too can be informed.

  1. Light travels at a constant 186,000 miles per second. No matter what and relative to everything light moves at a constant 186,000 miles per second.

  2. v = d/t – (velocity = distance/time) All this is saying is velocity (speed) equals distance traveled divided by time.

  3. Time also known as space time is the fourth dimension. We will call it w giving us our four dimensions w, x,y,z

  4. Distance – the unit of measurement between two points in space.

OK now you have all the terminology you will need. So we have our new dimension lets make a few routine calculations. Lets just get straight to what we are after here we want to travel in our new dimension correct? OK, how far do we want to go? How about 2 hours forward in time that would mean a distance of 2 right? And how fast will be traveling, oh yeah we an equation for that. Alright lets setup our equation v= d/t, but wait, we just defined that our new dimension is w which is actually time, did we not? So that would make our equation v = d/w OK now that looks better, but wait. Since our new dimension is really just time that leaves us with d = w right? OK I got it now our equation is v = w/w.  I see it the w‘s cancel each other out leaving us with v = 1.  Some thing is not right here! we have not even plugged in any numbers, but we have already solved the equation and the answer is v = 1? What does this mean. Why if we try to move through our new dimension (time) does everything equal 1, a constant 1, this means no matter where in time you try and travel the speed is 1 which is represented as 1 second per second, 1 minute per minute, and to go one step further negative time is not possible (i.e traveling back in time is not possible).

OK now the big problem comes if there is light in our new dimension than it would travel at a constant 186,000 miles per second wright, wrong it too travels at 1 which gives us the equation 186,000 = 1 which is impossible. What does all this mean you ask yourself it means one thing, in the fourth dimension (time) time moves at a constant in the same way that light travels at a constant speed, and if both travel at a constant and that constant is not the same then this proves that at least if the fourth dimension light does not exist. If light does not exist in the fourth dimension then how could we survive traveling through time? This further proves that there is no fourth dimension, leaving us with time being constant and no fourth dimension.

So how do you explain time then? Well, just like the speed of light it is a constant and a constant 1 moving forward into the future.

Next time you hear those silly people start talking about time travel you have all the ammo you need to prove them wrong.
