US Economic Crisis – How I am Losing Everything

June 24, 2009 by: Allen Sanford

This is a story that starts back in December of 2008. I had been working at a fortune 500 company for just over 2 years, I can’t release the name of the company nor the names of the people there because I signed one of those don’t sue us here is some money letters. Anyway back to my story. After getting canned, January 19th 2009, because I refused to participate in social events like birthday parties, non-business related lunches, and social gathers after hours (believe me I got this in writing on my yearly review). Oh, did I mention my son was just born December 1st, 2008, yes my boss fired my a little after a month after my son was born, I was not even good and back from taken a leave of absence so I could be with my new born child, and I got canned. OK, onward, well after this lovely event I was forced to break open my 401k and use every last bit of my savings to stay a float. Well, I searched high and low, day and night for a job but none could be found. You see we were in the middle of that recession that the analyst said would not happen. So here I am searching high and low. After about two or three months with no luck in the Job Market I finally begin trying to pick up clients and attempting to start a consultant business. Well I finally got lucky and landed one that was bringing in enough cheese to pay the bills.

Now this is where things start to go south. You see I had made it almost six months at this point on my own, by doing constant or freelance work, and using my 401k and savings so I thought things were starting to look up. Boy was I wrong. Three months pass with my client when one day he just decides for one reason or another that he would dispute a retainer fee that was in our contract and had been there for three months. Anyway, needless to say he drop me and again I was without work. My wife after a month picked a Job at a local child development center which to say the least was bringing cash but not to the tune we were needing and I was searching left and right for Job. Now mind you I was not being picky I was look for anything, sweep the floors, shovel crap at this point I have a seven month old that needs food. Well we start falling behind on our bills, now this is were I really get mad, and not for the reason some of you are thinking.

I start getting phone calls from the mortgage company Bank of America. I start getting calls from the credit card companies like FIA Card services. And I start getting call from debit collectors. The thing is not a single one of the people who call me speak native English. I answer the phone and the people on the other line are foreign people. This begins to make me really think. I have my mortgage with an American Company, my credit card are run by American Corporations, yet the people working there are in India. What is wrong with this picture. I can’t find a Job the American Economy is peril and we are sending money to China, India, and other countries instead of creating jobs in America. So I started asking to speak to fluent English speaking people and the answer I get is “Well I can speak English” and I am going, no I can barely understand you. I can understand my 3 year old nice better than half of these people calling and harassing me.

Now I am no rocket scientist, but the president of the United States Barrack Obama wants to give money to the heads of these corporations to stimulate our economy, but the very corporations he is giving the money to is not paying American workers, it is paying foreign workers . So my question here is how does this stimulate our economy, sounds to me like it is stimulating these other countries economy. Now Barrack Obama wants to regulate health care and regulate how much the CEO gets paid, I think he needs to regulate the creation of foreign and domestic jobs. Where is the “Off Shore” Czar anyone.

Anyway I just had to get this off my chest. I am about to lose my house, my cars, my boat, and everything else I own because over half the jobs in this country are sent over seas and the politicians of this country are worried about corporate bail out plans. Where are the bailouts for tax paying Americans? Why is our tax dollar going to the mega rich instead of back to us? I can do the math and so should you the President handed out over $700 billion dollars to these rich corporations. Do you realize that there are only about 304 million people in the US. Here is the simple math instead of giving these corporations our tax dollars what if he gave each person in th US a fair cut of that money, drum roll please $700,000,000,000/304,000,000 that equals about $2302 per person, per person not per house, per person. The average family household has 3 people that an average of over $7000 per house hold. Raise your hand if that kinda cash would help you pay off some debt. Check this out that would pay most peoples mortgage for six months, how about that for stimulating the economy. Anyway feel free to comment.
