My wife and I, after doing chores around the house all day, decided to geocaching so I could introduce her to what to look for and how to go about geocaching. If you can imagine on a June afternoon in alabama, it was H O T. Well I deceided not to introduce her to the geocaching sport by taking her on a long find. One because it was H O T but also because she is pregnant. Well we found two geocaches near the house both were within 2 miles of the house and off we went. Well without further a due here are the photos from the two cahces we found.

June 27, 2008

I found a geocache this morning near where I work and this is actually the first geocache I found on my own after being introduced to the idea last night.

The first thing I did was to setup my geocache account on http://www.geocaching.com and find a few caches in my area. To my surprise there was no shortage of geocaches in my area, infact they seemed to be everywhere. I picked three which looked easy enough to find that I could look for on my way to work, boy was I wrong. The first two where near my house and still not found the third was near where I work and quite easy to find, yet still posed a problem because the geocache was so blended into its environment that it was difficult to determine that I had actually found it until I physically tried to grab it and see if indeed that was the geocahce.

Well after finding this cache I have indeed gotten hooked on this game.

At this point I would like to mention a few pointers, tips, and general thoughts here. Please remember when playing this game that other people will be looking for the same cache as you so please put it back in the same condition you found it in. Second please remember to protect the environment as you play so as not to disturb or harm any of the surrounding animals or vegetation. Also be mindful of the area in which you place new caches and permission and please, please follow the rules. Also remember that finding the cache is the actual treasure. And finally the best tip I can give at his point is even though it does not look like the cache it may indeed be the cache.

Happy Treasure Hunting!
